One of the famous writers of Bengal, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay was born on 12 September 1894. His Father was Mahananda Bandyopadhyay, and mother was Mrinalini Devi. His early education started at Bangoan High School. He passed intermediate and graduation from Ripon college, now known as Surendra Nath College of Kolkata. He worked as a headmaster at Jangipara High School and later at Harinavi Anglo Sanskrit Institution. He wrote many novels and short stories. His famous novels are Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Aranyak, Debjan, Icchamati, Chander Pahar etc. He breathed his last on 1st November 1950.

বিভূতিভূষণ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ১২ই সেপ্টেম্বর ১৮৯৪ সালে জন্মগ্রহণ করেছিলেন। তার বাবা ছিলেন মহানন্দ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবং মা ছিলেন মৃণালিনী দেবী। তার ছোটবেলার শিক্ষা শুরু হয়েছিল বনগাঁ হাইস্কুল থেকে। রিপন কলেজ থেকে তিনি স্নাতক হয়েছিলেন, যা বর্তমানে কোলকাতার সুরেন্দ্রনাথ কলেজ নামে পরিচিত। তিনি কিছুদিন জঙ্গিপাড়া হাইস্কুলে প্রধান শিক্ষকের পদে চাকরি করেছিলেন। পরে তিনি হরিনাভি অ্যাংলো সংস্কৃত ইনস্টিটিউশনে শিক্ষকতা করেছিলেন। তিনি অনেক উপন্যাস লিখেছিলেন। তার বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস গুলি হল – পথের পাঁচালি, অপরাজিত, আরণ্যক, দেবযান, ইছামতী, চাঁদের পাহাড় প্রভৃতি। ১লা নভেম্বর ১৯৫০ সালে তিনি পরলোক গমন করেন।
